Going to the Kentucky Derby is on my bucket list. I don’t know a Southern girl that wouldn’t be ecstatic to dress to the nines and attend the race. We had a small get together at out house this year to celebrate the event… We pulled out our silver, displayed red roses, and wore out hats while we sipped juleps.
My husband swears I make the best mint juleps…
I highly recommend using a julep glass! They are the perfect size and keep the drinks super cold..plus they are fancy and pretty!
My Mint Juleps:
4 Mint leaves
3 ounces Bourbon
*splash of sugar water
crushed ice (i crush mine into snow)
~Add mint leaves into the bottom of a glass. Pour in a dash of sugar water.. Enough to muddle the leaves. Muddle leaves and sugar together ( I overly muddle mine!)
Pour in bourbon. Add crushed ice. Stir and garnish with mint.
*Sugar Water~ Bring 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar to a boil for 3 minutes. Let cool and store in a closed container.
Covington and I are dressed in matching Lilly Pulitzer
She wasn’t sure about her Derby hat.
